Welcome

Following the closure of Treherbert swimming pool by the local authority, local representation saw the development of the Friends of Treherbert Pool group..

With support from CwmNi and The Wales Co-operative centre, the group developed a business plan and negotiations were held with the Council to propose the take over of the pool by the group.

The pool has been offered to the group by the council for £1 and a one off grant of around £15,000 will also be provided by the council towards ‘start up’ costs.

It is estimated it will cost around £225,000 per year to run the pool full time and the group are now making applications to various funding bodies to assist with these costs.

There is currently a membership scheme being developed, encouraging people to become members of the pool at a cost of £5 per year for adults and £1 per year for children to go towards the running of the pool.
